Testimonials
Alex C, current GCSE student
Having been a student of Madame Mallett for the last 2 years, I truly must say that she has been an inspirational French teacher and has made me passionate and excited about developing my language skills and wanting to achieve the best French grade possible.
The remote learning period was particularly engaging as Madame Mallett was able to achieve the same levels of engagement as if I was in the classroom. She set up great slideshows and quizlets that were easy to navigate and helped me hugely with my vocabulary retention. What was particularly helpful was that she always responded quickly to any questions that I had and her feedback and responses were detailed. Madame Mallett also dedicated one live session per week to improving our French pronunciation. This was extremely effective and helped build up my confidence to actually speak the language.
I am about to study the IB and will be taking French as one of my subjects. I will, without a doubt, look to some further online tutoring with Madame Mallett as I know that her style, approach and enthusiasm will help me achieve great things.
Dominic W, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University (International Baccalaureate grade 7, 2020)
I wanted to thank you personally for your help throughout the course, especially your dedication to making lessons both useful and engaging, which I am sure cannot have been easy. I also wanted to thank you for your constant positivity, especially considering the level of French that I joined the school with and your willingness to organise extra-sessions for all of us.
Milly Ad, IB Diploma
Madame Mallett has taught me for the past five years, and has single-handedly led my learning in French from struggling to introduce myself to discussing the social and political issues of immigration in France. Last year we converted to remote learning due to COVID-19, and learning was very much the same. The support and interaction was unwavering, and the lessons were very engaging. Remote learning enabled the running of individual speaking sessions from which I benefited greatly, Madame Mallett's combination of encouragement and support mixed with an engaging teaching style works wonders, and is something I recommend.
James A, Undergraduate at Southampton University (GCSE French grade A*, A level French grade A 2019)
Having taught me French throughout secondary school, I couldn’t recommend Mme Mallett enough to teach you a language. Her engaging (and extremely fun) methods helped me get excellent grades at school, and inspired me to continue with my French in university and beyond!
Learning a language is an invaluable skill. I’m confident Mme Mallett will get you there.
Francesca M, French A level grade A, 2020
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for all that you have done for me as a student in the last 4 years. You have provided me with an incredible amount of support and It has been a real pleasure studying French from GCSE level to A level with the same staff members that have continuously encouraged me.
Lisa Norman, mother of Thomas and Charlotte
Janine has taught both of my children and demonstrated a fantastically empathetic understanding of their very different learning needs. She supported and extended where necessary, instilling tremendous confidence and a love of languages in both of them. My son has since gone on to train as a modern languages teacher himself, inspired by her excellent classroom practice and obvious passion for the job. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Thomas, PGCE MFL,
(GCSE grade A*, A level grade A 2017)
I just wanted to say a quick thank you for teaching me in French this year. I have loved all of the lessons and I firmly believe as the lessons this year have cemented my interest into taking French to A-level and beyond. I know teachers never seem to get the recognition they deserve and I wanted to thank you for the humourous, useful and more than anything enjoyable lessons I have had the pleasure to be a part of this year.
Amanda Malins, mother of Max Malins English professional rugby union player
(GCSE French grade A, 2013)
We are all absolutely thrilled with Max's GCSE result and just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your hard work, help and encouragement as he says he would never have been able to do it without you!
Elizabeth M, Mother of Izzy,
{French GCSE grade 5, 2019)
We cannot even begin to tell you how proud we are of Izzy being awarded a 5 in her GCSE French. It was thoroughly deserved by her but would not have been possible without all of your support and hard work to make it happen. To have two European languages on her CV is amazing.
