Some interesting facts about the Thai language:
Thai has an alphabet comprising 44 consonants and 33 vowels.
It is written from left to right.
There are no gaps between words and punctuation marks do not correspond with those of latin based languages.

Learn to write and read Thai
There comes a moment when you are learning Thai, that you will realise that in order to make meaningful progress you will need to learn how to read and write - in order to access documents, newspapers and dictionaries, to forgo reliance on the variable correctness of ‘transliteration’ and to learn more about Thai culture.
Follow the tried and tested SOAS/Linguaphone method that I will teach you and learn in a month.
Description
An intensive introduction to learning to read and write the Thai script.
1 hour per day over 4 weeks - 20 hours. This is a demanding course that requires discipline and cumulative learning. All practise writing materials and glossaries provided.
You will learn how to form, recognise and use:

other punctuation marks
tone rules
high frequency language

Thai cultural introduction course
This 30 minute course is designed to give a basic introduction to cultural differences between Thai and ‘western’ cultures. Whether you are going to Thailand to work or going on holiday, it is important to have an awareness of specific 'do's and don'ts'. You will gain an understanding of how to avoid offending Thai people, to prepare for and cope with the unexpected and negotiate potential awkwardness, so maximising the enjoyment of your experience in this amazing country. Culture shock is a real issue, anticipating it with knowledge and strategies will be of substantial benefit to the future traveller.
